How long it took

From submitting the prompt to getting the PDF, it took about 3–6 minutes on my end. That’s fast enough that I didn’t feel like I was “waiting on a report.” I could iterate.

What the PDF actually contained (examples)

The report I received wasn’t just a wall of text. It was structured and readable, with sections that looked like a mini analyst briefing. It included market demand and competition discussion, plus financial-style assumptions.

One thing I noticed right away: the model didn’t treat my idea like a blank slate. It repeatedly anchored back to the customer segment and the pricing range I gave it—so garbage-in, garbage-out is absolutely real here.

If I position as “triage accuracy + time-to-first-response improvements for small Shopify brands,” the differentiation score improved.

Did it magically “prove” demand? No. But it gave me a much sharper hypothesis to test next.

Did it miss anything? (Yes.)

I also ran into the classic AI-report issue: it can sound confident while making broad assumptions. In my case, a few things felt thin or too generalized:

  • TAM assumptions: the market sizing felt directionally useful, but I wouldn’t bet a roadmap on it without validating with real data (ads benchmarks, keyword volume, or direct surveys).
  • Source transparency: I didn’t see the kind of citation trail I’d want if I were doing serious diligence. For example, it described competition patterns without always showing where those specific claims came from.

So if you’re expecting a human-investor-grade memo with verifiable sourcing, Cresh won’t fully scratch that itch. But for early-stage iteration? It can still be helpful.

How it helped me avoid false starts (with actual iteration)

I didn’t just run it once. I did two analyses with small changes to see if the report responded in a meaningful way:

  • Run #1: broader positioning (“helpdesk automation for e-commerce”)
  • Run #2: narrower positioning (“AI-assisted triage for Shopify stores; reduce misrouting; faster first response”)

In Run #1, the “differentiation potential” and “competition intensity” sections were less favorable. In Run #2, the report pushed harder on a specific value narrative and the financial feasibility section looked more internally consistent with my pricing range.

That’s the real win for me—Cresh helped me choose what to test next instead of guessing. I would’ve spent more time brainstorming features otherwise. Instead, I had a clearer target problem + wedge.

Who this is best for (and who should skip it)

  • Best for: early-stage founders who already have a rough idea of their customer, pricing, and problem, and want a fast structured “first pass.”
  • Also good for: people who need a decision framework (what to validate first) more than they need deep research.
  • Skip it if: you don’t know who the buyer is yet, you can’t describe the problem in a sentence or two, or you need fully sourced, audit-ready market research.

My minimum bar: if you can’t provide a specific customer segment and a pricing assumption you can defend, the output will be generic. Cresh can’t read your mind—it uses your inputs.

  • Speed: I got usable PDF output in about 3–6 minutes, which made iteration realistic.
  • Actionable structure: the report sections were specific enough that I could turn them into next-step validation questions (like “is the wedge too narrow?”).
  • Metrics are more than fluff: I could point to named items like Market Demand Score, Competition Intensity, and Pricing Feasibility and discuss them with my co-founder.
  • Iteration changed the output: when I narrowed the positioning, the differentiation/competition discussion shifted in a way that felt consistent.
  • Good for hypothesis-building: it’s great at helping you form a testable story, not just generating ideas.

  • No substitute for sourced research: I didn’t see the kind of citations I’d want for high-stakes decisions.
  • Can overgeneralize segments: adjacent customer groups weren’t explored as much as I expected.
  • Quality depends on your inputs: vague customer + vague problem = vague PDF.
  • Credit-based pricing can be confusing: you’re not paying “per report length” transparently—you’re paying in credits, so plan your iterations.
