Quick answer
To sell ebooks worldwide with Automateed, publish an approved product, set its price and configure one of two payout modes. Authors can use a fully enabled Stripe account or save PayPal, Wise, Payoneer or bank details for platform royalties. Platform royalties enter pending balance, become available after the hold and enter the staff payout-candidate list when available balance reaches $100. The current author dashboard does not submit a payout request.
Two ways to get paid β pick what fits you
Stripe availability depends on its country and account requirements. The platform route lets you save receiving details for manual payout processing. Test the public checkout before sending buyers to a listing.
Option 1 β Connect Stripe
Where Stripe Connect onboarding is available and your account is approved, you can connect Stripe. Stripe controls payout timing, verification, currency conversion and any account-specific restrictions.
Option 2 β Get paid by Automateed
When you save a supported platform payout method, Automateed can collect customer payments and record the author share in a royalty ledger. Qualifying available balances are processed manually; there is no author-facing payout-request button in the current Publisher interface.
PayPal, Wise, Payoneer or bank
The Publisher profile lets you save one of these receiving methods. Saving the details sets the payout profile to pending; the destination can still require manual checking before money is sent.
85% platform-royalty share
For an eligible platform-royalty sale, 85% is recorded for the author and 15% for Automateed before refunds or reversals. A receiving provider or currency conversion may impose separate fees outside Automateed.
Sell supported published products
Published books, courses and supported offers on an Automateed author website can use direct checkout after the product passes the paid-checkout content review and has a valid listing, price and delivery path.
Platform checkout and earnings hold
For platform-royalty sales, Automateed runs the checkout and records refunds or disputes against the royalty ledger. New earnings use a 14-day availability delay by default, and a later reversal can still be balanced against future royalties.
How getting paid works, step by step
A customer buys your product
When a platform payout method is saved and no fully enabled Stripe account takes priority, someone can purchase an approved book or course through Automateed checkout. The buyer pays by card without requiring the author to connect a separate Stripe account.
You earn 85% of the sale
Your share (sale price minus the flat 15% fee) is recorded to your royalty balance the moment the payment succeeds.
A short safety hold
By default, new platform royalties become available 14 days after they are recorded. Early refunds or disputes can be reflected during that delay, but a later reversal can still affect a future payout.
Your balance becomes available
After the availability date, the earnings appear in available balance. At $100 or more, that balance appears in the internal payout-candidate list for staff processing.
We pay you
The current workflow is manual: staff use the saved receiving details to process the payout outside the author dashboard, then mark the covered royalty entries as paid. Timing and receiving-provider requirements can vary.
Two different meanings of worldwide
Direct selling and retail distribution are not the same service.
Selling worldwide from your author page means that readers can reach a public product page, pay through the supported checkout and receive the digital product while the author uses an available payout method. Retail distribution means supplying a book to stores such as Amazon or other ebook retailers, each with its own account, metadata, territory and royalty rules. Automateed supports direct publishing and selling on its publisher ecosystem; exported PDF, EPUB and DOCX files can also be prepared for external platforms, but an export is not automatic retail distribution.
This distinction matters when planning links and expectations. Use a branded direct-sales destination for purchases you fulfil through Automateed, keep external retailer links where readers prefer those stores, and map only relevant follow-up offers with the sales-funnel guide. You do not have to remove Amazon listings to sell the same ebook directly, provided your external agreements allow it and you control the necessary rights.
Price and royalty example
Know what enters pending balance before you publish.
Under the Automateed payout option, the author royalty is 85% of the recorded product sale and the platform share is 15%. For a $10 ebook, the royalty ledger records $8.50 before any later refund or reversal. The amount initially appears as pending because a completed card payment can still be refunded or disputed. After the hold period, eligible earnings move to available balance.
The $100 payout-candidate threshold applies to available balance, not the combined pending and available total. Reaching $100 in recent orders does not qualify the balance while those royalties are still inside the hold window. The Seller Dashboard separates pending and available balances and shows the next availability date.
Authors using their own active Stripe Connect account follow Stripe timing and account rules instead. That route can be more automatic in supported countries, while the platform-royalty route exists for authors who cannot complete Stripe onboarding. The Publisher profile should show the saved choice consistently; choosing Automateed payouts should not keep prompting the author to finish Stripe setup.
Prepare products for direct checkout
Set price, delivery and payout details before sending traffic.
A published listing needs a real cover, accurate description, valid delivery file and a price when it is intended for sale. Open the public page in a private browser window and confirm that a visitor sees the expected buy or free-reading action. Then complete one test purchase with an address you control and check the confirmation message and download link. A successful payment without reliable delivery is not a finished selling workflow.
Authors who previously used Gumroad, PayPal or another external checkout can keep those links while testing, then use the bulk migration controls in Seller Dashboard when ready. Products that already have saved prices can move directly to Automateed checkout; products without prices need a default or individual price first. This prevents a bulk link removal from accidentally turning paid products into unclear listings.
- Complete the Publisher profile and select a payout mode
- Add a payout country and method details that match the receiving account
- Set and verify product prices before removing external links
- Test checkout, email delivery and file access from the public page
Operations and trust
Plan for refunds, content review and local obligations.
Automateed acts as the payment handler for platform-royalty sales. Paid checkout requires an approved product-content review; rejected or still-unapproved material does not pass that checkout gate. Authors remain responsible for the rights to their text, images and brand assets, as well as for income reporting required in their country.
Refunds and disputes reverse the related royalty entry. When that happens during the hold period, the pending balance is corrected before payout. If a reversal occurs after money was already paid, it can be balanced against future royalties. Clear descriptions, working downloads and responsive support reduce those cases and make worldwide selling sustainable for both readers and authors.
Once the selling foundation works, use a focused sales funnel for authors to offer a related course, bundle or workbook after checkout. The funnel should improve the reader journey, not hide the original purchase or make delivery conditional on buying something else.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need a Stripe account to sell on Automateed?+
Not for the platform-royalty route. A fully enabled Stripe account takes priority when connected; otherwise, saving PayPal, Wise, Payoneer or bank details configures the platform route. Product approval and valid payout details are still required before a sale can become a payable royalty.
Which countries can sell this way?+
Stripe Connect supports only the countries offered in its setup flow. The platform form provides a separate country list and receiving-method choices, but saving a country is not a guarantee that a provider can complete every payout. Confirm the saved destination details before relying on the route.
What payout methods can I choose?+
The current platform form accepts PayPal, Wise, Payoneer or bank-transfer details. PayPal, Wise and Payoneer require an account email; bank transfer requires destination details. These details are saved with pending status for manual payout handling.
How much does Automateed take?+
For the platform-royalty route, a sale records 85% for the author and 15% for Automateed before refunds or reversals. Keeping an Automateed author website live uses a separate website-hosting subscription; it is not included in the 15% split. A receiving provider or currency conversion may also impose charges outside Automateed.
When do I get paid, and is there a minimum?+
Platform royalties become available after 14 days by default. Once available balance reaches $100, the account appears in the internal payout-candidate list. Staff process the external payment and then mark the included royalty entries paid; there is no author-facing request action in the current workflow.
What can I sell?+
Supported, published books, eligible courses and supported products featured on an Automateed author website or funnel can use direct checkout. Each listing still needs accurate information, a valid delivery file where applicable, an eligible price and content-quality approval.
What happens if a customer asks for a refund?+
When a platform payment is refunded or disputed, the related royalty entry is reversed. Because new royalties have an availability delay, many early reversals can be reflected before funds are sent. If a reversal arrives after payout, the related author share can be balanced against future royalties.
What about taxes?+
You are responsible for reporting income under the rules that apply to you. Automateed provides sales and payout records, but those records are not tax advice; ask a qualified local adviser when you are unsure about reporting or registration obligations.
How do I start?+
Create an Automateed account, set up your Publisher profile, then open "How you get paid" and connect a fully enabled Stripe account or save platform receiving details. Add a product, let its paid-checkout content review complete, and test its public checkout and delivery before sending buyers to the page. Publishing an author website live may require its separate hosting subscription.
